Purification and humidification have different engineering requirements, and combining both functions in one unit means compromises in both directions.

A HEPA purifier is optimized for airflow: a sealed housing that forces all air through the filter, with a fan sized to achieve the target CADR. A humidifier is optimized for evaporation or atomization: a water tank, an evaporative wick or ultrasonic transducer, and a fan to disperse moisture into the room.
